"It’s a part of our history and has always been there, a meeting place for friends, small children who had endless fun at it. We’re a city now and as such we should be doing all we can to preserve our heritage. It’s not appealing to visitors to see that we can’t maintain this"

"The Cross is an important symbol which we understood growing up, without being told. It’s ancient history connects us to our past, our ancestors and our sense of belonging in this place. It’s where generations have gathered for important announcements and folk have congregated in their day to day lives for many hundreds of years. It’s a comforting sight and an important landmark which must be treated with the respect it deserves. "

"Historic centre of the auld capital of Scotland. Not only that I think that a representation of the old Ports/Gates e.g. East Port, West Port etc. should be rebuilt around our town centre to kickstart a restoration of our long history. Also the facades of the shops in the High Street should be made to adhere to a design which reflects our heritage and history and not the plastic carbuncles that currently adorn shops like BetFred etc. "
